Indications of Covit-M

This preparation is indicated for the treatment and prevention of vitamin deficiencies.

Composition

Each 5 ml syrup, capsule or tablet contains:  Vitamin A: 5000 IU Vitamin D3: 400 IU VitaminC: 75 mg Vitamin B1: 1.50 mg Vitamin B2: 10 mg Vitamin B6: 1 mg Vitamin B3: 13 mg Vitamin B5: 5 mg Vitamin E: 5 IU Vitamin B12: 2 mcg

Pharmacology

Vitamin A plays an essential role in the function of retina and is essential for growth and differentiation of epithelial tissue.Vitamin B: Plays a role in the synthesis and maintenance of coenzyme A. Necessary for lipid metabolism, carbohydrate metabolism, tissue respiration, glycogenolysis, inhibition of very low-density lipoprotein (VLDL) synthesis. May increaase chylomicron triglyceride removal from plasma. Vitamin E is an antioxidant which preserves essential cellular constituents.Vitamin C: Necessary for collagen formation and tissue repair; plays a role in oxidation/reduction reactions as well as other metabolic pathways including synthesis of catecholamines, carnitine, and steroids; also plays a role in conversion of folic acid to folinic acid.Vitamin D3 is a fat-soluble sterol. It is necessary for the regulation and regulation of calcium and phosphate homoeostasis and bone mineralisation. Vitamin D is also essential for healthy bones as it aids in Calcium absorption from the Gl tract. In addition to this it stimulates bone formation. Clinical studies also show that Calcium and Vitamin D has synergistic effects on bone growth as well as in Osteoporosis and fracture prevention.

Dosage & Administration of Covit-M

One capsule daily for adults and children over 5 years of age or as directed by the physician.

Contraindications

This preparation is contraindicated in patients hypersensitive to any component of the drug.

Side Effects of Covit-M

No side-effect has been reported with such low dose of the vitamin.

Precautions & Warnings

Should not use in over dosage. Patients with mild to moderate renal failure. Diabetes, patients prone to recurrent renal calculi.
