Eziride 150 mcg is indicated in the prevention and control of nausea and vomiting associated with motion sickness/travel sickness.

Hyoscine competitively blocks muscarinic receptors and has central and peripheral actions.

Absorption

It relaxes smooth muscle and reduces gastric and intestinal motility.

Dosage & Administration of Eziride 150 mcg

Adult & Children over 12 years
Dosage:300 mcg 30 minutes before journey, then 300 mcg 6 hourly if needed
Maximum 3 doses in 24 hour Children 4-12 years
Dosage:150 mcg 30 mins before journey
Maximum 300 mcg in 24 hours Children 3-4 years
Dosage:½ tab (75 mcg) 30 mins before journey
Notes:Maximum 150 mcg in 24 hours

Administration of Eziride 150 mcg

Ideally, take tablets 30 minutes before the journey.

Interaction of Eziride 150 mcg

Additive sedative effects with alcohol or other CNS depressants. Reduced effects with acetylcholinesterase inhibitors (donepezil, galantamine, rivastigmine, tacrine).

Contraindications

Eziride 150 mcg is contraindicated in Glaucoma/Blindness.

Dry mouth, dizziness, blurred vision, difficulty with micturition.

Pregnancy & Lactation

Do not take Hyoscine hydrobromide tablets if you are pregnant or breast-feeding unless recommended by your doctor or midwife.

Precautions & Warnings

May cause drowsiness, if affected do not drive or operate machinery. May be potentiated by concurrent phenothiazines, tricyclic antidepressants or alcohol. Absorption may be reduced by aluminium hydroxide preparations.

Mode Of Action

Eziride 150 mcg is a type of medicine called an antimuscarinic (or anticholinergic). Hyoscine hydrobromide is sometimes known as scopolamine. It is thought to prevent motion sickness by stopping the messages sent from the vestibular system to reach an area of the brain called the vomiting centre. This area of the brain coordinates the vomiting reflex.
