About Guaifenesin + Dextromethorphan + Menthol

Indications of Guaifenesin + Dextromethorphan + Menthol

Guaifenesin + Dextromethorphan + Menthol is a combination cough/cold product indicated for the temporary symptomatic relief of cough and chest congestion associated with the common cold, minor upper respiratory tract infections, or minor throat and bronchial irritation.

  • Established/approved use: Temporary relief of cough due to minor throat and bronchial irritation (dextromethorphan, an antitussive), together with loosening and thinning of bronchial mucus secretions to make coughs more productive (guaifenesin, an expectorant).
  • Adjunct/symptomatic use: Menthol provides a soothing, cooling sensation in the throat and mild local relief of throat irritation associated with cough and cold.
  • Guaifenesin + Dextromethorphan + Menthol is intended for short-term, symptomatic use only and does not treat the underlying cause of cough (e.g., infection, allergy, asthma).

This combination is not indicated for chronic cough associated with smoking, chronic bronchitis, emphysema, or asthma, or for cough accompanied by excessive phlegm, unless directed by a physician.
