What is Algecal Dx 600 mg+400 IU used for?
This is indicated for the treatment and prevention of osteoporosis, osteomalacia, tetany, hypoparathyroidism & osteogenesis. It can be used as supplement in case of inadequate intake of Calcium in childhood diet, pregnancy & lactation, rickets & poor absorption during old age. Other indications include pancreatitis & phosphate binder in chonic renal failure etc.
What is the dosage of Algecal Dx 600 mg+400 IU?
One tablet once or twice daily with plenty of water or food as directed by the physician.
What are the side effects of Algecal Dx 600 mg+400 IU?
Flatulance, diarrhoea, constipation and allergic reactions etc are rare manifestation. Hypercalcemia due to prolong use has rarely been reported.
Who should not take Algecal Dx 600 mg+400 IU?
Increased activity of parathyroid gland, hypercalcemia, constipation, kidney stone & extreme loss of body water are such condition in which calcium intake is contraindicated.
What precautions should be taken with Algecal Dx 600 mg+400 IU?
In mild hypercalciuria reduction of dose is sufficient to return to normal serum calcium concentration. Patients with kidney stone or with such previous history should be recommended to increase their fluid intake.
Is Algecal Dx 600 mg+400 IU safe during pregnancy and breastfeeding?
This should be given to pregnant & lactating mothers as per recommendation of physician. Toxicity was tested on pregnant & lactating females which results excellent.
