NuvaCare is a topical emollient combination used for:

• Established use: Moisturizing and protective treatment of dry, chapped, rough, or irritated skin.
• Established use: General skin barrier/emollient therapy for dry skin conditions, including eczema-prone and very dry (xerotic) skin, used as directed.
• Adjunct use: As a soap substitute/regular moisturizer to help maintain skin hydration in chronic dry-skin conditions such as atopic dermatitis, alongside other treatment prescribed by a physician.

This is a cosmetic/dermatological emollient, not a treatment for infection or active disease, and it does not replace prescribed medicated therapy for a diagnosed skin condition.

Each unit of this preparation contains White Soft Paraffin + Light Liquid Paraffin + Lanolin Anhydrous combined in an emollient ointment/cream base intended for external application to the skin.

NuvaCare is a topical emollient combination product. White soft paraffin and light liquid paraffin are occlusive, inert hydrocarbon-based ingredients that form a barrier on the skin surface to reduce water loss and retain moisture. Lanolin anhydrous is a natural, wax-like emollient derived from sheep's wool that helps soften and moisturize the skin, though it carries a recognized potential for contact allergy in sensitive individuals. Together, these ingredients help soothe, soften, and protect dry or compromised skin.

NuvaCare belongs to the therapeutic class of topical emollients/skin protectants (dermatological barrier preparations). It is not an antibiotic, steroid, or systemically active medicine.

White Soft Paraffin + Light Liquid Paraffin + Lanolin Anhydrous works through a purely physical, non-systemic mechanism. White soft paraffin and light liquid paraffin form an occlusive lipid film over the stratum corneum that slows transepidermal water loss, allowing the skin's natural hydration to be retained. Lanolin anhydrous, a wax-ester mixture similar in composition to natural skin sebum, further softens the skin surface and provides additional emollient properties. There is no clinically significant systemic absorption or pharmacokinetic activity associated with topical use.

For external/topical use on the skin only.

• Clean and dry the affected area before application, unless directed otherwise.
• Apply NuvaCare gently and evenly over the skin surface.
• Avoid contact with the eyes, mouth, and mucous membranes; if accidental contact occurs, rinse thoroughly with water.
• Do not apply to infected, actively weeping, or broken skin lesions without medical guidance.
• Not for oral, ophthalmic, or internal use.

No clinically significant systemic drug interactions are established for NuvaCare, as it is not absorbed systemically in meaningful amounts.

However, because it is occlusive, applying it over or together with other topical medicines (e.g., topical corticosteroids) on the same skin area may increase the absorption and effect of that other topical medicine due to the occlusive barrier effect. Space applications apart or seek physician advice when combining with other topical treatments on the same site.

Reported side effects with NuvaCare are generally local and uncommon:

• Contact dermatitis or allergic skin reaction, particularly in individuals sensitive to lanolin.
• Mild stinging, redness, or irritation at the site of application.
• Folliculitis or acne flare-up, particularly if applied to acne-prone facial skin, due to the occlusive nature of the product.

Discontinue use and seek medical advice if signs of allergy or worsening irritation occur.

NuvaCare is applied topically with minimal systemic absorption and is generally considered low risk in pregnancy when used as directed on intact skin. As with any topical product, it should be used only if clearly needed, and a physician should be consulted before use during pregnancy.

During breastfeeding, avoid applying to the nipple/areola area shortly before feeding unless advised by a physician, to prevent inadvertent ingestion by the infant; wipe the area clean before nursing if it has been applied there.

Observe the following precautions when using NuvaCare:

• For external use only; avoid contact with the eyes and mucous membranes.
• May cause contact dermatitis or allergic reaction in individuals sensitive to lanolin; discontinue if redness, itching, or irritation develops.
• Being an occlusive, paraffin-based preparation, it may worsen acne-prone skin if applied to the face in some individuals.
• Fire hazard warning: Paraffin-based emollients can soak into clothing, dressings, and bedding; fabric contaminated with this product is more easily ignited by naked flames or smoking materials. Avoid smoking or being near open flame while wearing clothing or dressings that have been in contact with this product, and change/wash clothing and bedding regularly.
• Do not apply to infected or actively weeping skin without medical advice.

Topical overapplication of NuvaCare is unlikely to cause systemic toxicity, as the product is not significantly absorbed through intact skin. Excessive or prolonged occlusive application may cause local skin maceration, folliculitis, or irritation.

If accidentally ingested in a large amount, or if a severe allergic reaction occurs, seek immediate medical attention or contact a poison control center/emergency services.

Store at room temperature (below 30°C), away from direct light and moisture. Keep the container tightly closed after use. Keep out of reach of children.

Infants and children: Generally considered suitable for use as a skin emollient in infants and children as directed; avoid application near the mouth and nose in young infants to reduce the risk of accidental ingestion or aspiration.

Elderly: No specific dose adjustment is required; elderly patients with fragile or very dry skin may benefit from regular use as directed.

Hepatic/renal impairment: Not applicable, as systemic absorption of NuvaCare is negligible with topical use.

NuvaCare may be used regularly and long-term as a maintenance emollient for chronic dry-skin conditions, for as long as needed to keep the skin comfortable and hydrated. If there is no improvement, or if the skin condition worsens after a few weeks of regular use, a physician should be consulted to reassess the underlying skin condition.
