Remisol

Remisol is a traditional Unani (herbal) compound tablet. In Unani practice it is used as anadjunct for the symptomatic relief of mild joint and rheumatic aches, stiffness, andgeneral body discomfort associated with everyday wear-and-tear or minor musculoskeletal strain.

Evidence basis

• Use of Remisol is based on long-standing traditional Unani practice and anecdotal clinicalexperience, not on robust modern randomized controlled trials.
• It should be regarded as a supportive/adjunct measure alongside, not instead of, standardmedical care for joint or rheumatic complaints.

Important limitation

Remisol is not a substitute for proper medical evaluation of persistent,severe, or inflammatory joint symptoms — such as joint swelling, redness, warmth, fever, or symptoms thatworsen or do not improve — which require diagnosis and treatment by a physician (e.g. for conditions such asrheumatoid arthritis, gout, septic arthritis, or other systemic disease).

Qurs Rehmin is a compound (multi-ingredient) Unani herbal tablet formulation. As with mostclassical Unani "Qurs" (tablet) preparations, the exact qualitative and quantitative composition, including thespecific herbal/mineral ingredients and their proportions, varies by manufacturer and isprepared according to classical Unani pharmacopoeial references.

Patients and caregivers should always check the ingredient list and strength printed on the specificmanufacturer's packaging or pack insert of the Qurs Rehmin product they have been given, and consulta qualified Unani physician (Hakim) or pharmacist for the precise formulation.

Remisol ("Qurs" meaning tablet in Unani terminology) is a traditional Unani compound tabletformulated to help relieve minor joint and rheumatic discomfort. The name "Rehmin" reflects its traditionalassociation with rheumatism-type complaints in Unani nomenclature.

Traditional (Unani) perspective

Remisol tablets are taken by mouth (orally), generally swallowed whole with a glass of water,preferably after meals to minimize the chance of stomach upset. Do not crush or chew unless the productlabeling specifically permits it.

Formal, well-controlled drug-interaction studies for Remisol are not available. As amulti-ingredient herbal product, the following general cautions apply:

• Other pain relievers/anti-inflammatory medicines (e.g. NSAIDs): concurrent use maytheoretically add to gastrointestinal or other effects; discuss with a physician before combining.
• Anticoagulant/antiplatelet medicines (e.g. warfarin, aspirin): some herbal jointpreparations may theoretically affect bleeding risk; caution and medical supervision are advised if usedtogether.
• Other prescription medicines for chronic disease: because herb-drug interactions areoften not well studied, patients on regular medication for diabetes, hypertension, heart, liver, or kidneydisease should inform their physician before starting Remisol.

Remisol is traditionally reported to be generally well tolerated when used as directed;however, formal systematic adverse-event data from controlled trials are limited. Reported or theoreticallypossible effects include:

• Mild gastrointestinal upset (e.g. nausea, stomach discomfort), usually reduced by taking after meals
• Allergic-type skin reactions (e.g. rash, itching) in individuals sensitive to any component

Patients should stop use and seek medical advice if they notice any rash, swelling, difficulty breathing, orother signs of an allergic reaction after taking Remisol.

Remisol is not recommended during pregnancy or breastfeeding becauseadequate, well-controlled safety data in pregnant or lactating women are not available for this traditionalherbal compound formulation. As a precaution, it should be avoided in these populations unless specificallyadvised and supervised by a qualified physician who judges that it is clearly needed. Pregnant or breastfeedingindividuals should consult a physician before using Remisol.

• Use with caution in individuals with chronic diseases (e.g. diabetes, kidney, liver, or heart disease) orthose taking other regular medications, due to limited herb-drug interaction data — see Interactions.
• Discontinue and seek medical advice if any allergic reaction or unexpected symptom occurs — see SideEffects.
• Not recommended in pregnancy or breastfeeding, or in children, due to insufficient safety data — seePregnancy and Lactation and Use in Special Populations.
• Keep out of reach of children and do not use beyond the expiry date printed on the pack.

Specific data on overdose with Remisol are not established. If an overdose is suspected —whether from taking substantially more than the recommended dose or accidental ingestion (especially by achild) — seek immediate medical attention or contact emergency services/a poison control centerright away. Do not attempt to manage a suspected overdose at home without professional medical guidance.

Store at room temperature (below 30°C), away from light and moisture. Keep out of reach of children.

Pediatric use

Safety and efficacy of Remisol in children have not been established. Use in children is notrecommended unless specifically advised by a qualified practitioner.

Elderly

No specific dose adjustment data are available for elderly patients; use with caution, particularly if othermedications are being taken concurrently or chronic disease is present (see Interactions andPrecautions).

Renal/hepatic impairment

Specific dosing data in renal or hepatic impairment are not established for Remisol; suchpatients should use it only under medical supervision.

Pregnancy and breastfeeding
