About Cinchocaine + Hydrocortisone + Neomycin + Esculin

Indications of Cinchocaine + Hydrocortisone + Neomycin + Esculin

Cinchocaine + Hydrocortisone + Neomycin + Esculin is a topical/rectal combination product indicated for the short-term symptomatic relief of anorectal conditions. Its principal uses are:

  • Internal and external hemorrhoids (piles): established use for relief of pain, itching, burning, swelling, and discomfort, including where secondary bacterial infection is present or likely.
  • Anal fissures and pruritus ani (anal itching): symptomatic relief of associated pain and irritation.
  • Post-hemorrhoidectomy and post-anorectal-surgical care: adjunct short-term symptom relief as directed by a physician.
  • Proctitis and other minor inflammatory anorectal conditions with an associated risk of secondary bacterial infection.

Cinchocaine + Hydrocortisone + Neomycin + Esculin is intended for short-term symptomatic use only; it does not treat the underlying cause of hemorrhoidal disease and is not a substitute for definitive medical or surgical management when indicated.

Dosage & Administration of Cinchocaine + Hydrocortisone + Neomycin + Esculin

Adults

Ointment/Cream: Apply a small amount to the affected external anorectal area 2-3 times daily and after each bowel movement. For internal use, apply using the applicator supplied, in the morning and at night, and after each stool if needed, for the initial days, then reduce frequency as symptoms improve.

Suppository: Insert one suppository into the rectum twice daily (morning and night) and, if needed, after a bowel movement, until acute symptoms improve; then reduce frequency or use as directed by a physician.

Duration

Treatment with Cinchocaine + Hydrocortisone + Neomycin + Esculin should generally be limited to short courses (usually not more than about 7 days) because of the corticosteroid and antibiotic components. If symptoms persist beyond one week or worsen, treatment should be reviewed by a physician and other causes of anorectal symptoms excluded.

Children

Not generally recommended for infants and young children; see Use in Special Populations.

Administration notes

  • Gently wash and dry the anorectal area before application.
  • Wash hands before and after use.
  • Avoid contact with the eyes.
