About Glycerol + Liquid Sugar

Indications of Glycerol + Liquid Sugar

Glycerol + Liquid Sugar is a demulcent oral preparation indicated for the symptomatic relief of dry, irritating (non-productive) cough and sore throat associated with upper respiratory tract irritation.

  • Established/traditional use: Soothing relief of throat irritation and dry cough in adults and children (above 3 months of age), by coating and lubricating the irritated mucosa of the throat.
  • Adjunct use: May be used alongside other cough/cold measures (adequate fluid intake, humidification) for symptomatic comfort; it does not treat the underlying cause of cough (e.g., infection, allergy, asthma) and is not a substitute for specific therapy when one is indicated.

It is a symptomatic remedy only and is not intended for productive (chesty) cough with significant sputum, or for cough persisting beyond 1 week, associated with fever, breathlessness, or blood in sputum, which requires medical evaluation.
